Patient Care
As Kaiser employees, we are deeply committed to the care of our patients.
Kaiser RNs who voted to join NUHW in January 2010 made safe staffing levels their top priority. They opened up a fresh dialogue with the Nurse Manager at Kaiser Los Angeles Medical Center about staffing levels at the hospital.
As a result of their negotiations, Kaiser posted 121 new RN positions, 42 Monitor Tech positions and 7 CNA positions. With this victory, RNs will have more help to do their jobs, and patients and their families will benefit from better staffing levels.
While NUHW members are winning new positions and better staffing, SEIU members are facing layoffs and working harder with less job security and less benefits. Over the last 18 months, SEIU has helped Kaiser eliminate more than 1,700 positions.
United in NUHW, we'll have a voice to secure our jobs and improve staffing and patient care, just like the RNs at Kaiser Los Angeles Medical Center.
